Leadership Philosophy
Who is a leader? Every person has the ability to become a leader. Leaders are people who can envision a better future, and who dare to start on the path to something greater for themselves and others. Leaders do not work in isolation, but rather, work as a part of a team and empower others to move closer to a shared vision. According to Brene Brown (2018), “A leader is anyone who takes responsibility for finding potential in people and processes, and who has the courage to develop that potential.”
What are my core values?
Student Centered - I will strive to create safe, caring and welcoming spaces. I will continue to grow in my knowledge of inclusion and belonging. I will continue to find opportunities to celebrate the students I teach. I will meet students where they are at, and help them to develop their own skill sets to help them become successful.
Connection - I strive to create strong relationships with all members of the school community in order to meet the needs of our students. I will use connection to create trust and encourage my school community to reflect and grow. I will reach out and leverage connections I have made to benefit my school community.
Authenticity - I will lead authentically, recognizing my strengths and areas for growth. I will be honest and transparent with my school community about my actions and decisions. I will lead by example and take responsibility for my actions.
Lead Learner - I will continue to learn alongside those that I lead. I will strive to create a community of learners who collaborate to achieve student success. I will stay invested in the growth and development of myself and my staff. I will create leadership opportunities for all members of our school community.
Courage - I will continue to act with courage in my personal and professional life. I will not be afraid to share my thoughts, or speak up for myself or others. I will continue to push forward with ideas and initiatives even when things become difficult or the path is unclear.
What is my commitment? To share my leadership philosophy with my colleagues and use it to guide my decision making. As a dedicated professional, I will use my leadership philosophy to ensure I am staying true to my core values and my commitment to ensuring student success.
